As pediatric dentists, Dr. Katie and Dr. Kyle completed two years of specialist training in pediatric dentistry beyond dental school. They are personable, caring professionals who possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise to meet all of your child's individual oral health needs.
Dental Exams and Cleanings
Tooth decay is one of the most common diseases affecting children but is also highly preventable.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry states that children should see the dentist when they get their first baby tooth but no later than their first birthday. It's essential to work together to protect baby teeth until they're ready to come out on their own.
Baby teeth play the essential role of holding space for permanent teeth until they are ready to emerge. The early loss of baby teeth can have long-term oral health consequences for your child, including tooth misalignment that may require orthodontic treatment to fix.
Our priority is to provide exceptional preventive care, including cleanings, dental exams, fluoride applications, and dental sealants for your child at our Apple Valley dental office.
Minimally Invasive Dentistry
It's important to preserve the structure of baby teeth for as long as possible. If your child has a cavity, we will talk with you about options to fix his or her tooth. We are happy to offer minimally invasive dentistry whenever possible.
For very young or anxious children who cannot tolerate routine treatment, the Hall technique allows placement of a silver crown on a baby molar without the need for numbing or drilling. Silver diamine fluoride, or SDF, is a liquid that is painlessly brushed onto a cavity to help prevent the progression of decay.
Minimally invasive dentistry often allows us to treat our very young or very anxious patients safely and effectively, while avoiding the consequences of untreated cavities such as pain and infection which can require general anesthesia in the dental office or operating room.
Interceptive Orthodontics
The American Academy of Orthodontists recommends that every child have an orthodontic evaluation by age seven. Some children benefit from interceptive orthodontic treatment at this age to correct a growth issue and get their dental development back on track. And since Dr. Katie is an orthodontist as well as a pediatric dentist, your child will benefit from her extensive training and expertise!
Parent Education
We encourage you to use us as a resource, and at Carousel Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we are always happy to take the time to answer your questions. A significant part of helping your child maintain a healthy smile is educating you, the parent, about matters their oral health needs, and helping you understand what to expect throughout their different stages of dental development.
