Meet the Parents Behind the Smiles: Happy National Dentist Day from Dr. Katie and Dr. Kyle!

March 30, 2026
|

We’re pleased to celebrate National Dentist’s Day every year and use it as an opportunity to connect with Apple Valley families about their smiles.

Of course, National Dentist’s Day can be a time to recognize oral health teams and dentists who care for your smile, too.

In either case, we’re always excited when opportunities arise to spotlight dental health.

In this blog, we cover the following:

  • What Is National Dentist’s Day?
  • How Your Family Can Celebrate National Dentist’s Day
  • Meet Your Doctors: Dr. Katie and Kyle Nordeen
  • The Dual-Specialty Advantage: Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics
  • The Carousel Approach to Specialized Dental Care
  • A Parent-to-Parent Perspective: A Safe Space for Every Child

What Is National Dentist’s Day?

According to nationaldentistsday.com:

National Dentist’s Day falls on March 6th every year. It was established as a way to show appreciation and thanks for dentists. It’s also a way to bring awareness to dentistry so that people will know more about how to care for their teeth.

How Your Family Can Celebrate National Dentist’s Day

We like to take this time to encourage patients of all ages, especially children, to adopt and implement healthy habits, such as:

  • Bringing your little one to the dentist every six months
  • Cleaning your child’s teeth at least twice daily
  • Wearing the proper mouthguard if your child plays sports
  • Adopting a diet for your child that is low in sugar and acidity

National Dentist’s Day can be fun, especially for kids. Perhaps they’re allowed to purchase a new toothbrush to commemorate the day, or they can select a flavored toothpaste to make brushing more pleasant. Be sure the American Dental Association approves the toothbrush and toothpaste. Additionally, the toothbrush should be soft bristled unless otherwise directed by their dentist.

Consider National Dentist’s Day your time to kick off a healthy smile by adopting healthy habits.

Meet Our Dentists in Apple Valley, MN: Dr. Katie and Dr. Kyle Nordeen

Our dentists are kind, patient, and a lot of fun! Besides these traits (that children love), they are highly skilled dental practitioners and parents themselves!

Board Certified Expertise for Your Little Ones:

Dr. Katie

Dr. Katie has completed residency training in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry. She is one of the few dual-trained pediatric dentists and orthodontists in Minnesota.

Dr. Kyle

Dr. Kyle is also a board-certified pediatric dentist who meets or exceeds the criteria for successfully caring for your child's smile.

The Dual-Specialty Advantage: Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics

Typically, children are evaluated for orthodontics around age seven, but when you have a dentist with a dual specialty, we can monitor their teeth from the very beginning!

Additionally, kids come to trust their home dental team and visiting a new provider for orthodontics can cause fear and anxiety.

The team at Carousel Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is so pleased to keep your child’s dental care in one location with the team they trust!

The Carousel Approach to Specialized Dental Care

We take an organic approach to dentistry. In other words, our dental care services evolve as your child grows. We also understand that every child is different, which is why we customize their dental care to fit their unique needs.

We recommend bringing your child to the dentist for the first time when they turn 1 or when you notice one or more teeth erupting from the gum. This allows us to monitor their dental care at every stage. Of course, if you have concerns before that time, we encourage you to reach out to our compassionate dental team.

Early visits help us guide you through teething, pacifier use, and other pediatric milestones.

We always share all findings with you and are happy to answer any questions you might have.

As your child grows, we implement:

  • Comprehensive Dental Checkups
  • Professional Teeth Cleanings
  • Periodic X-Rays
  • Dental Sealants
  • Fluoride Treatments
  • And More

We are here for your child’s general dental care and evolving dental needs, including tooth fillings, orthodontic evaluations, sedation dentistry, and dental emergencies.

Our dentists also provide gentle care for children with special needs. Let us know how we can accommodate your little one!

A Parent-to-Parent Perspective: A Safe Space for Every Child

Many of our dental team members are also parents, and that helps us relate to your little one. We always want them to feel safe and cared for at the dental office. We treat your child the same way we would treat our own.

This National Dentist’s Day, we hope you’ll schedule your child’s next (or first) dental checkup with us.
