- Loose or Painful Wires — If a wire pokes your cheek or gums, cover the sharp end with orthodontic wax if you have some available. You can also gently move the wire into a more comfortable position with a clean cotton swab or the eraser end of a pencil. Avoid cutting or pulling on the wire yourself unless your orthodontic team specifically tells you to.
- Loose Brackets — If a bracket comes loose but remains attached to the wire, leave it in place and contact our dental office. Try to avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods until we repair it.
