At what age should I take my child to see the dentist?

Parents often question why we would need to see a child at such an early age, and there are several reasons at Carousel Pediatric Dentistry.

Start Healthy Oral Habits Early For Your Child

First, we want to get a head start on ensuring that they have a positive experience, starting from their very first visit. Seeing your little one before a problem develops allows them to build positive feelings about the experience.

These early dentist appointments also serve the purpose of helping your child get used to us and the new surroundings in a safe, secure, and non-threatening manner. When it's time for us to start performing dental treatments, they will already be comfortable with us and receptive to the process.

It's also essential to establish a dental home by age one so that our Apple Valley pediatric dentists can begin to develop an individualized prevention plan. This also includes reviewing oral hygiene and dietary questions with parents and discussing "anticipatory guidance," or what to expect over the next several months and years as your child grows.
