If your child dislodges or breaks a bracket on their braces, it's essential to address that repair as soon as possible. This not only alleviates any discomfort and prevents further damage but also ensures that the treatment is progressing properly. However, if the problem occurs outside of Carousel Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics' normal business hours and you can't see Dr. Katie right away, there are a few things you can do to temporarily repair the concern.
Repairing a Bracket Break on Your Child's Braces
As a parent, you play a crucial role in your child's orthodontic care. In the event of a dislodged or broken bracket, you can take these steps to address the issue temporarily. Put the bracket back into its correct position by moving it along the wire with tweezers until it's between two teeth. Move the bracket around, back to the proper position, then slide it back to the tooth's center. Take care to prevent swallowing or other injury. You can also use a small amount of dental wax to hold the bracket in place until you can see your orthodontist.
If these instructions do not address your concern or you have additional questions, please know that Dr. Katie is just a text away at 952-522-3059. She will be more than happy to answer any queries you may have.
