Types of Braces in Apple Valley, MN
Dr. Katie offers all types of braces and orthodontic treatment, including traditional braces and clear aligners. It's recommended that your child have their first orthodontic evaluation by the age of seven or eight to determine if they would benefit from early or interceptive orthodontic treatment. Early orthodontics is helpful for children with overcrowded teeth or complex bite concerns.
Traditional Braces
If brackets and wires are best for your child, we offer clear ceramic or traditional metal braces. The braces are affixed to the teeth and attached to wires that help complete tooth alignment. Dr. Katie will make adjustments to the braces every few weeks, and most kids finish their treatment in 12 to 24 months.
Clear Aligners with Invisalign
Some kids may be candidates for clear aligners. Instead of braces, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to create tooth movement. The aligners are removable and fit snugly against the teeth for comfort and discretion, so they don't interfere with normal daily activities.
Kids will wear their aligners for at least 22 hours per day but can remove them for meals, flossing, and brushing, making home care easier.
